2018 Courses for EEO Professionals

We offer three courses for professionals interested in leading discrimination prevention trainings, conducting internal investigations, and responding to accommodation requests.

The Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination (MCAD) offers training courses for individuals who provide, or who want to provide, employment discrimination prevention trainings; conduct internal discrimination complaint investigations; or respond to accommodation requests. 

Acceptance into the program is required to attend. Qualified participants who successfully complete training are eligible to be listed on the MCAD Trainer Referral list.

Course Descriptions

Train-the-Trainer: Preventing Workplace Discrimination & Harassment

This course prepares participants to deliver thorough, accurate, interactive training to prevent discrimination and harassment in hiring, benefits, performance management, promotion, termination and other aspects of employment. In addition, participants learn the essential skills of training related to disability and religious accommodation. The course includes model training segments for supervisors and staff, and a practicum where students receive feedback from seasoned discrimination prevention trainers.

  • Boston Dates: 2/6, 2/7, 2/27, 2/28 and 3/1 (Snow days: 2/8 & 3/2)
  • Springfield Dates: 9/25, 9/26 & 10/2, 10/3, and 10/4

Conducting Internal Discrimination Complaint Investigations

This hands-on training explores employers’ responsibilities to conduct internal discrimination complaint investigations; presents effective methods for conducting a comprehensive investigation; and gives participants the opportunity to practice investigation skills using realistic case scenarios.

  • Boston Dates: 4/3*, 4/4 and 4/5 (Snow day: 4/6)
  • Boston Dates: 6/ 4*, 6/5, and 6/6
  • Springfield Dates: 10/16*, 10/ 17, and 10/18

Responding to Accommodation Requests

This hands-on training explores employers’ responsibility to provide disability and religious accommodations at every stage of the employment relationship. It presents effective methods for considering and implementing accommodation requests; and gives participants the opportunity to practice their skills using realistic case scenarios.

  • Boston Dates: 4/3*, 4/24, 4/25 and 4/26
  • Springfield Dates: 10/ 16*, 11/6, 11/7, and 11/8

* Train-the-Trainer enrollees are excused from the 4/3, 6/4, and 10/16 training days

Cancellation Policy

Due to the popularity of these courses we follow a strict cancellation policy. If you cannot attend the training, you may send an attendee in your place. The MCAD does not offer refunds. If you cancel your attendance at least 2 weeks prior to the commencement of the course, you may qualify for a one-time deferment of your enrollment to the following year if there is a participant on the waitlist to take your spot. If a participant does not take your spot, you will forfeit your registration fee.
