In order to determine whether a private, non-degree granting post-secondary occupational school is currently licensed by the Division of Occupational Licensure (DOL), the locations at which each has been approved to operate, and whether a sales representative is licensed by DOL to solicit students, please use DOL’s Check A License. We recommend that you print this page for ease of reference in order to following the directions below.
Unless otherwise noted on the Division of Occupational Licensure’s website, an occupational school’s license may remain current beyond its expiration date if that school has submitted a timely and sufficient application for renewal.

- Licensing Entity: On the drop down menu to select “Office of Private Occupational School Education” (Hint: Click on the down arrow and press “O” to jump to (Office of Private Occupational School Education”).
- License Type: On the drop down menu select your search choice.
- Skip to the field Business Name: Enter the name of the school or sales representative.
This field is both case sensitive and requires you to know the name of the person or school exactly as it appears in the system. For example, if you enter Plausible School, but the school is licensed as The Plausible School, your search will not yield a result. However, you can use a wildcard to assist in your search; for example, “%Salter%” will yield results for all schools licensed with the name “Salter.”
If you are unable to locate a school, its location, or a sales representative, it may be for one of the following reasons:
- The school may be overseen by another state agency (Department of Higher Education, Department of Labor Standards, Department of Public Safety)
- DOL may have determined that a school is not required to be licensed; or,
- The school may be operating in violation of state statutes.
