Welcome to the Department of Unemployment Assistance (DUA)

DUA administers the Unemployment Insurance program, providing temporary assistance to unemployed Massachusetts workers. Unemployment insurance (UI) is a temporary income protection program for workers who are unemployed through no fault of their own and who are able to work, available for work and looking for employment. Funding for UI benefits comes from quarterly contributions paid by the state's employers; no deductions are made from workers' salaries.

Introducing UI Online on July 1.

Due to the transition to UI Online, the current system (including WebCert and TeleCert) will not be available from June 26 through June 30.  For instructions on how to request benefit payments for weeks ending June 22 and June 29, please click here

Existing claimants, employers and agents – check your mail for information about UI Online. Please read the information carefully.
