Join the Executive Office of Veterans Services as we honor the bravery, service, and sacrifice of Massachusetts’ military community!
What is Military Appreciation Day?
The First Annual Military Appreciation Day will celebrate and recognize service members, veterans, and military families who have made significant sacrifices for our Commonwealth and country. Each State Representative and Senator was invited to nominate a member of the military community from their district to be honored.
Program Highlights
- Remarks Provided by State Leadership: Governor Maura Healey, Lt. Governor Kim Driscoll, Senate President Karen Spilka, Secretary Jon Santiago, and Deputy Secretary Andrea Gayle-Bennett
- Distinguished Keynote: General Joseph F. Dunford, Jr., USMC (Ret.), 19th Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, will share reflections on leadership, duty, and the enduring bonds of military service
- Legislative Honors: Honorees nominated by members of the Legislature will be recognized for their contributions to their communities and the Commonwealth in the historic House Chamber
- Patriotic Music: Award-winning vocalist Michelle Brooks-Thompson will deliver a powerful performance of the National Anthem
- Voices of Valor: Moving stories of courage and service that remind us why we honor those who serve—and the families who stand beside them
