Public Hearing Notice Brockton – Intersection Improvements at Centre and Plymouth Streets
Overview
A Virtual Design Public Hearing will be hosted on the MassDOT website below to present the design for the proposed project in Brockton, MA.
Purpose:
The purpose of this hearing is to provide the public with the opportunity to become fully acquainted with the proposed project. All views and comments submitted in response to the hearing will be reviewed and considered to the maximum extent possible.
Proposal:
The proposed project consists of the reconstruction of the intersection of Centre Street (Route 123) and Plymouth Street. The project begins along Centre Street, from east side of the Commercial Street intersection and extend about 100’ east beyond Plymouth Street intersection. On Plymouth Street the work will extend approximately 300’ both north and south of the intersection with Centre Street. The scope of the project includes new traffic and pedestrian signals, ADA-compliant sidewalks and pedestrian ramps, bicycle accommodation consisting of a 5’ wide buffered bicycle lane in each direction, new pavement, new signing and striping, new street lighting, relocation of overhead wires and upgraded roadway drainage infrastructure. These upgrades aim to improve accessibility, safety and functionality for all users.
A secure right-of-way may be necessary for this project. Acquisitions in fee and permanent or temporary easements may be required. The City of Brockton is responsible for acquiring all needed rights in private or public lands. MassDOT’s policy concerning land acquisitions will be presented in the hearing.
