Overview   of CANCELLED - Boston - I-90 Allston Viaduct Repairs Project

A Public Information Meeting will be held to present the design for the proposed I-90 Allston Viaduct Repairs Project in Boston, MA.

Purpose:

The purpose of this meeting is to provide the public with the opportunity to become fully acquainted with the proposed I-90 Allston Viaduct Repairs Project. All views and comments submitted in response to the meeting will be reviewed and considered to the maximum extent possible.

Proposal:

The proposed project will repair and rehabilitation the I-90 Allston Viaduct, which carries the Massachusetts Turnpike (I-90) over the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) commuter rail’s Worcester Line and through the Allston/Brighton area. The plan entails bridge deck repairs and localized replacements; concrete repairs to abutments, pier bents, and columns; selective cleaning, painting, and repairs to structural steel; bridge railing/ barrier repairs; and improvements to deck drainage. The project is intended to preserve the existing viaduct to ensure the safe movement of traffic while MassDOT completes design and permitting for the larger, I-90 Allston Multimodal Project.

A secure right-of-way is necessary for this project. Acquisitions in fee and permanent or temporary easements may be required. The Commonwealth of Massachusetts is responsible for acquiring all needed rights in private or public lands. MassDOT’s policy concerning land acquisitions will be presented in the meeting.

Project inquiries, written statements and other exhibits regarding the proposed undertaking may be submitted to Carrie Lavallee, P.E., Chief Engineer, via e-mail to MassDOTProjectManagement@dot.state.ma.us or via US Mail to Suite 6340, 10 Park Plaza, Boston, MA 02116, Attention: Project Management, Project File No. 612231.
