Public Hearing Notice  Dighton – bridge replacement, Pleasant Street over Muddy Cove

A Virtual Design Public Hearing will be hosted on the MassDOT website below to present the design for the proposed project in Dighton, MA.

Purpose

The purpose of this hearing is to provide the public with the opportunity to become fully acquainted with the proposed project. All views and comments submitted in response to the hearing will be reviewed and considered to the maximum extent possible.

Proposal

The proposed project consists of replacing the existing Pleasant Street Bridge (Bridge No. D-08-002) over Muddy Cove adjacent to the Taunton River in Dighton, MA. The existing structure consists of a single span and two 10'-6" wide travel lanes that accommodate two-way traffic. The project will provide a new bridge with a 31-foot-wide roadway, consisting of two 11-foot travel lanes with a 2-foot shoulder on eastern side and a 7-foot shoulder on the western side. The proposed roadway alignment will be maintained. A 6-foot-wide sidewalk will be included on the eastern side with a pedestrian curb ramp at its beginning and end. The sidewalk will begin with a pedestrian crossing to connect Muddy Cove Lane to the east sidewalk. Full depth reconstruction will be provided for the approach roadways for approximately 100 feet from the north of the proposed bridge and 150 feet from the south of the proposed bridge along both approaches. 

A secure right-of-way is necessary for this project. Acquisitions in fee and permanent or temporary easements may be required. The Town of Dighton is responsible for acquiring all needed rights in private or public lands. MassDOT’s policy concerning land acquisitions will be presented in the hearing.
