Overview   of Marblehead - Design Public Hearing Webinar

A Design Public Hearing webinar will be published on the MassDOT website to present the design for the proposed intersection improvements at Pleasant Street & Village, Vine and Cross Streets project in Marblehead, MA.

Purpose:

The purpose of this hearing webinar is to provide the public with the opportunity to become fully acquainted with the proposed intersection improvements at Pleasant Street & Village, Vine and Cross Streets project. All views and comments in response to the webinar will be reviewed and considered to the maximum extent possible.

Proposal:

This project includes the intersection improvements at Pleasant Street & Village, Vine and Cross Streets in the Town of Marblehead a length of approximately 0.123 miles. The proposed improvements consist of the realignment of Vine Street to form a “T” intersection, narrowing and realigning Pleasant Street to minimize crossing distance, the installation of new sidewalk, signs, enhanced lighting, modest drainage modifications as well as ADA/AAAB crossing enhancements and shared bicycle accommodations. The length of the project involves approximately 800 linear feet – 400 linear feet on Pleasant Street (200 feet east and west of the intersection), 150 linear feet on Village Street, 150 linear Feet on Vine Street, and 100 linear feet on Cross Street. Drainage and utility adjustments will be made as needed to accommodate the proposed intersection channelization modifications.

A secure right-of-way is necessary for this project. Acquisitions in fee and permanent or temporary easements may be required. The Town of Marblehead is responsible for acquiring all needed rights in private or public lands. MassDOT’s policy concerning land acquisitions will be presented in the webinar.

Written views received by MassDOT subsequent to the date of this notice and up to five (5) days prior to the date of the webinar, plans and a project handout will be made available on the MassDOT website listed below.

Written statements and other exhibits regarding the proposed undertaking are to be submitted to Patricia A. Leavenworth, P.E., Chief Engineer, MassDOT, 10 Park Plaza, Boston, MA 02116, Attention: Roadway Project Management, Project File No. 608146. Such submissions will also be accepted at the hearing. Mailed statements and exhibits intended for inclusion in the public hearing transcript must be postmarked no later than ten (10) business days after this Public Hearing.
