Overview   of Notice of public hearing concerning BMC Health System, Inc.

Notice is hereby given that, pursuant to 105 CMR 100.445, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health will conduct a hearing to permit comment on a Determination of Need (DoN) Application.  On September 9, 2022, BMC Health System, Inc. (Applicant) filed an Application for a Proposed Project at the Boston Medical Center Corporation (BMC, Hospital) that consists of 1)Construction and renovation to BMC’s existing Yawkey Building 5th and 6th floors to accommodate the addition of seventy (70) new inpatient beds, 2) Renovation of BMC’s existing Menino Building 2nd floor for the addition of five (5) new inpatient operating rooms (ORs); and 3) Other construction and renovation projects to support the inpatient expansion infrastructure and improve existing services, facilities, and patient experience. The Proposed Project’s total capital expenditure is $121,239,760.00.

The hearing will be held on Friday, October 28, 2022, from 4-6 p.m. Due to precautions associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, the hearing will be conducted on a moderated conference call. Such hearing shall not be adjudicatory but shall be in the nature of a public forum for presentation of comments that may be relevant for consideration by the Department regarding the Proposed Project. Persons wishing to make comment may speak during the hearing or may submit written comments to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, Determination of Need Program, 67 Forest Street, Marlborough, MA 01752 or via email to DPH.DON@massmail.state.ma.us (Preferred). Written comments will be accepted until 5 p.m. on Monday, November 7, 2022. All written comments submitted to the Department may be posted on the Department’s website and released in response to a request for public records.
