Overview   of Notice of Virtual Public Hearing Concerning Massachusetts General Brigham, Inc.

Notice is hereby given that the Massachusetts Department of Public Health will hold a public hearing to permit comment on an application for Determination of Need (DoN) filed on February 12, 2021 for a substantial capital expenditure and substantial change in service for the construction and other renovation projects at Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital: 1153 Centre Street, Boston, MA 02130. The Proposed Project includes: (A) construction of a 5-story addition to BWFH’s existing hospital facility that will contain the following— (1) 78 additional medical/surgical beds; (2) an 8-bed observation unit; (3) relocated and expanded endoscopy services, including one additional procedure room; (4) a 3T magnetic resonance imaging (“MRI”) unit and certain relocated radiology services; and (5) shell space for future build out; and (B) other renovation projects to improve existing services and facilities at the BWFH main campus. The total value of the Proposed Project based on the maximum capital expenditure is $150,098,582.

The hearing will be held on Tuesday, March 30, 2021, from 12:00PM-3:00PM. Due to the State of Emergency declared by Governor Charles D. Baker on March 10, 2020, and subsequent emergency orders limiting public gatherings, the hearing will be conducted on a moderated conference call. Such hearing shall not be adjudicatory but shall be in the nature of a public forum for the presentation of any comments that may be relevant for consideration by the Department of the Proposed Project. Persons wishing to make their views known may appear at the hearing or may submit written comments to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, Determination of Need Program, 67 Forest Street, Marlborough, MA 01752 or via electronically to DPH.DON@massmail.state.ma.us. Written comments will be accepted up until 5:00 P.M. on Friday, April 9, 2021. All written comments submitted to the Department may be posted on the Department’s website and released in response to a request for public records.
