Public Meeting Notice

Public Meeting Notice  Service plaza improvements - virtual public meeting 6/13/24

Thursday, June 13, 2024 at 6 p.m.

Overview

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is continuing to seek public input on plans for improvements at service plazas along major roadways in the state. Three public virtual meetings will be held this month: June 13, June 18, and June 20. In addition, public feedback will continue through July 7 for a consumer survey on what people think of the state’s service plazas. To take the survey, please follow this link: Consumer Survey. This consumer survey, along with the input gathered from public meetings, will help establish an understanding of how travelers use each service plaza, what amenities are appreciated, and what amenities may be missing.

The public meetings are scheduled on the following dates:

  • Thursday, June 13, at 6:00 p.m. This virtual meeting will focus on the plazas located in Lee, Ludlow, Blandford, Charlton, Framingham, Natick, and Westborough. Those who wish to register should use this Zoom link.
  • Tuesday, June 18, at 6:00 p.m. This virtual meeting will focus on the plazas located in Newton, Lexington, and Beverly. Those who wish to register should use this Zoom link.
  • Thursday, June 20, at 6:00 p.m. This virtual meeting will focus on the plazas located in Plymouth, Barnstable, and Bridgewater. Those who wish to register should use this Zoom link.

The meetings are accessible to people with disabilities and those with limited English proficiency. MassDOT provides reasonable accommodations and/or language assistance free of charge upon request, as appropriate. To request accommodation or language assistance please contact MassDOT’s Chief Diversity & Civil Rights Officer by phone 857-368-8580, fax 857-368-0602, relay 7-1-1, or by email MASSDOT.CivilRights@dot.state.ma.us. Requests should be made as soon as possible prior to a meeting, and for difficult to arrange services including sign-language, CART or language translation or interpretation, requests should be made at least ten business days before a meeting.

The findings from MassDOT’s community engagement will help inform a Request for Proposals (RFP) for the long-term lease and operation of the 18 service plazas. With an eventual RFP, MassDOT will formally solicit bids from industry leaders and ultimately implement a best-in-class service plaza operating model.
