Proposals for the following project will be received by Mass Coastal RR until the date and time stated below.

The Bidding for and award of the contracts for the following procurement are to be in accordance with the requirements of Mass General Laws Chapter 30 § 39M.

Task Order: Mass Coastal RR: Cape Main and Falmouth Secondary Tie Replacement and Track Rehabilitation Program $4.75M

Mass Coastal RR is soliciting qualified Bidders (railroad contractors), to furnish labor, equipment and material necessary to replace deteriorated wooden crossties and switch timbers on the Cape Main Hyannis Secondary track and the Falmouth Secondary track, install ballast stone, surface, line and tamp 125,000 track feet of main line track, collect and dispose of scrap railroad ties and switch timbers, reconstruct a small section of yard siding track and perform associated railroad rehabilitation in accordance with specifications.

The services to be provided will include the installation of up to 20,000 ties (furnished by MassDOT), installation of up to 200 switch timbers (furnished by Contractor), installation of up to 12,000 tons of AREMA #4 stone ballast (furnished by Contractor), surfacing, lining and tamping with a production tamper of up to 125,000 track feet, collection, handling and disposal of up to 1,650 tons of scrap ties and timbers, reconstruction of approximately 300 track feet of the Coal Man siding (all material furnished by MassDOT) and miscellaneous other associated tasks as described by the bid documents.

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) owns the RoW, track and associated facilities on the Cape Main and Falmouth Secondary. Mass Coastal RR, under contract to the MassDOT Rail and Transit Division, (Rail Division) and by contractual obligation is responsible for the care and control of the state-owned rights of way and related property. Any work performed on the rail lines must conform to rules and regulations of the FRA Class that is assigned to safely run passenger and/or freight trains.

An award will not be made to a Contractor who is not qualified prior to the opening of proposals in these types of services. Bidders must have current MBTA Pre-Qualification Certificate for Class 1 – General Transit Construction and/or Class 3 – Trackwork.
