Overview   of Special Commission to Study the Health and Safety of LQBTQI Prisoners Meeting

The Special Commission to Study the Health and Safety of LQBTQI Prisoners will meet on February 13, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at the Department of Correction Headquarters, 50 Maple Street, Milford, MA 01757.

Agenda

  1. Review and approve minutes from previous meeting (January 18, 2019 minutes previously circulated for commission member review)
  2. Vote to allow remote participation at future meetings
  3. Discussion fo site visits
  4. Discussion of the scope of work of the commission and approach to drafting the April report
  5. Discussion concerning subcommittees
    1. Open Meeting Law requirements for subcommittees
    2. Would one or more subcommittees be useful for the commission?
  6. Survey for the DOC facilities, county houses of correction, and jails
  7. Defining LGBTQI Cultural Competency and what should be included in training (group discussion)
  8. Member comments (please note this is an opportunity for comment only, not group discussion regarding items not on the agenda).
  9. Public comments
  10. Executive Session
    1. The Special Commission may convene an executive session pursuant to M.G.L. c. 30A, § 21(a)(7) ("to comply with, or act under the authority of, any general or special law") in order to comply with M.G.L. c. 66A (FIPA) and M.G.L. c. 6, § 172 (CORI).
