Overview of Swansea - Design Public Hearing webinar and comment period
A Design Public Hearing Webinar will be published on the MassDOT website to present the design for the proposed Route 6 (Grand Army of The Republic Highway) at Gardners Neck Road improvements project in the Town of Swansea, MA.
Purpose:
The purpose of this hearing webinar is to provide the public with the opportunity to become fully acquainted with the proposed Route 6 at Gardners Neck Road project. All views and comments submitted in response to the webinar will be reviewed and considered to the maximum extent possible.
Proposal:
The proposed project consists of traffic signal upgrades, geometric improvements, improved bicycle and pedestrian accessibility, new signs, new pavement markings, new roadway pavement, and safety improvements for all modes of transportation at the intersection of Route 6 and Gardners Neck Road in Swansea, MA. Bicycle accommodations consisting of six foot wide usable shoulders along Route 6 and five foot wide bicycle lanes along Gardners Neck Road have been provided in accordance with applicable design guides.
A secured right-of-way will be required for this project. Acquisitions of properties in fee and securing permanent or temporary easements may be required. The Commonwealth of Massachusetts is responsible for acquiring all needed rights in private and public lands. MassDOT's policy concerning land acquisitions will be presented during the webinar.
