Public Hearing Notice  Wenham - Safety Improvements on Route 1A

A Live Virtual Design Public Hearing will be hosted on the MassDOT website below to present the design for the proposed Safety Improvements on Route 1A project in Wenham, MA.

Purpose:

The purpose of this hearing is to provide the public with the opportunity to become fully acquainted with the proposed Safety Improvements on Route 1A project in Wenham. All views and comments submitted in response to the hearing will be reviewed and considered to the maximum extent possible.

Proposal:

The proposed project consists of work being done on Main Street in Wenham from Fairview Avenue up to and including the Arbor Street intersection. This work will include a mixture of milling and overlaying, minor and major box widening, and partial reconstruction. This project will also include signage, designated turning lanes at key locations and two fully signalized intersections (at Cherry Street and Arbor Street). Sidewalks will be added on both sides of the roadway. Bicycle lanes are also being introduced on both sides of the roadway. Bicycle accommodations consisting of a 5’ bicycle lane in accordance with applicable design guides.

A secure right-of-way is necessary for this project. Acquisitions in fee and permanent or temporary easements may be required. The town is responsible for acquiring all needed rights in private or public lands. MassDOT’s policy concerning land acquisitions will be presented in the hearing.
