The First Step: Expressing Interest

Individuals currently serving a prison sentence within a Department of Correction facility who would like to earn their high school credential can enroll at the School of Reentry. The process begins with a desire for change and a drive to succeed, which can be expressed by:

  1. Reaching out to their facility’s Superintendent, Reentry Deputy, Director of Treatment or Correctional Program Officer to express interest in enrolling at the School of Reentry
  2. Mailing a letter of interest to the School of Reentry at Boston Pre-Release, 430 Canterbury Street, Roslindale, MA 02131

The 3-Step Admissions Process

After expressing interest in writing or in person, applicants next attend an information session (currently completed remotely because of COVID restrictions) and submit an application provided by the School of Reentry. Upon review of each application, the School of Reentry identifies candidates who will receive a one-on-one interview invitation with School of Reentry staff. The interview provides the best opportunity to the candidate and staff to learn more about one another and explore how the program might benefit the candidate as they prepare to reenter the community.

Joining Us at Boston Pre-Release

Once accepted into the School of Reentry, the individual must go through the re-classification process in order to be eligible for transfer to Boston Pre-Release Center. We look forward to welcoming you into our community and working together to achieve your goals.
