What you need   for Apply for a Real Estate School License

The Board may issue a real estate school license to administer the Boards approved curricula for the broker and salesperson pre-license education, real estate instructor education and real estate broker and salesperson classroom and online continuing education (CE). Applicants for licensure shall apply on the form provided by the Board and pay the prescribed fee.

Please review the list below for a summary of the documents required for the school license for which you are applying:

  • A notarized Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) Authorization Form completed and signed by the Owner(s), and Authorized Representative(s).
  • $20,000.00 Surety Bond in the School’s Name
  • D/B/A registered with the local City Hall Town Clerk, as well as Occupancy permit
  • Instructor’s Approval letter
  • Attestation Form if offering CEs & Pre-licensing 40 Hour Course Online
  • If applicable, an explanatory document detailing all prior or pending disciplinary actions against any professional license held by the Owner(s) or Authorized Representative(s) in any jurisdiction, foreign or domestic. Please include certified copies of any disciplinary documents or official records of the disciplinary action.
  • If applicable, an explanatory document detailing all prior felony or misdemeanor convictions against the Owner(s) or Authorized Representative(s) in any jurisdiction, foreign or domestic. Please include copies of certified court records related to the conviction.

Fees   for Apply for a Real Estate School License

The application fee, $62 and license fee, $264 are charged together. The fee for branches is $147 per branch. All applicable fees are charged when application is submitted. The fee is payable at the end of the online application process, by credit card, debit, card, or bank account.

Please note that there is a separate convenience fee charged by DOL’s vendor for certain online payment transactions.

How to apply   Apply for a Real Estate School License

Apply through our ePlace portal. Applicants are advised that they should retain original copies of all supporting documents and that they may be required to submit original copies to the Board at a later date, if requested.

  1. Application Review and Processing

    Please note that the Board only will review complete applications. Failure to submit all required information or supporting documents will result in your application being deemed incomplete or denied.

  2. Application Approval and License Issuance

    Once approved, the license number will appear on your ePlace account immediately. Your license information will be added to DOL's public “Check a License” database within twenty-four (24) to forty-eight (48) hours after issuance. A license card will be mailed to the address provided on application after issuance.
