The State 911 Department provides several forms of public records. We do not handle requests for 911 call recordings.

What you need

State 911 does NOT handle requests for 911 call recordings. You must contact either the Massachusetts State Police or your local city or town police for call recordings.

If the 911 call was made from a cell phone:

  • Contact Massachusetts State Police for the call recording.

If the 911 call was made from a landline:

  • Contact the local police in the city or town where the call was placed for a call recording.

Our department offers public records that may include:

  • Legal and regulatory records
  • Contracts
  • Fiscal, accounting, budget, or revenue records
  • Procurement records
  • Personnel records
  • Legislative records
  • Lease and facility management records
  • Grant awards, guidelines, and forms
  • Notices and communications to service providers
  • Training, public education, and newsletters
  • Program correspondence, projects, procedures, and policies
  • Reports
  • IT and system operations
  • Administrative letters, memos, calendars, and schedules

Note: In person requests cannot be the subject of an appeal.

You can make your request over the phone to a Records Access Officer at (508) 828-2911.

Note: Phone requests will only be accepted at the discretion of the Records Access Officer.
