Requesting verification documents for real estate licenses

Learn how real estate brokers and salespersons in Massachusetts can receive a license verification or certified license history.

Board of Registration of Real Estate Brokers and Salespersons

The Details

What you need

The board offers certified license verification documents to current and former licensed brokers and salespersons in Massachusetts. The certified verification document provides the following public information on each licensee:

  • Name
  • License type
  • License number
  • Date the license was issued
  • License status
  • Date the license expires
  • Any relevant disciplinary action information

The board will provide only this public information to requestors. The same information is also available for free through the Division of Occupational Licensure’s public Check a License database.

Please note that the board does not complete licensing verification forms from licensing authorities in other states or jurisdictions.

Fees

The fee can be paid online at the end of the request submission process. You can pay by credit card, debit card, or bank account. Please note that a convenience fee may be charged for all online credit card transactions. There is no fee for online payment by check.

How to request

  • When you create your MyMassGov account to access eLIPSE the first time, eLIPSE will ask you to enter information to help it locate your license and link it to your MyMassGov account.

    • Please read the Linking Your License guide before creating your account to ensure it is linked correctly.

  • Applications, renewals, and reinstatements must be submitted online through the eLIPSE portal.
  • You will be asked to submit all required documents via the eLIPSE platform, including a DOL CORI form. Once submitted, you will be notified of any required next steps.
  • Payment will also be made via the eLIPSE platform.
  • For instructions on managing your licenses and permits, view the DOL eLIPSE How-to-Guides.
  • Incomplete applications will be held open for 180 days from the date of application receipt to allow applicants to provide the missing information or documentation. After 180 days, the incomplete application will be considered abandoned, and applicants will need to submit a new application and payment.
