What you need

To submit a complete application, include a non-refundable fee paid by check or money order to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Ensure the check or money order includes the applicant's name and the address for the variance request.

Steps to Follow:

  1. Complete the application and add any supporting documents.
  2. Submit to the address in the By Mail information box.

Deadlines:

  • Applications must be received two full weeks before a Board meeting. This includes petitions to the Local Board of Health, if needed. It is the Petitioner’s responsibility to notify the local Board of Health and Local Plumbing Inspector (State Plumbing Inspector if it is a state project). Add their response to your application.

Important Notes:

  • Incomplete applications won't be processed or added to the agenda.
  • The Board generally meets the first Wednesday of each month, with meeting notices posted on their website at least 48 hours in advance.

Fees

Applications must be accompanied by a non-refundable $86.00 fee. The fee can be paid by check or money-order to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

How to submit

  • Applications, renewals, and reinstatements must be submitted online through the eLIPSE portal.
  • You will be asked to submit all required documents via the eLIPSE platform and will be notified of any required next steps.
  • Payment will also be made via the eLIPSE platform.
