What you need

The purpose of this permit is to insure the proper operation and maintenance of existing residual management landfills through review and approval of any proposed changes to existing Operation and Maintenance plans, monitoring plans, closure, or post-closure plans.

You must apply for this permit if you own or operate a residuals management landfill and are proposing any modification to an existing facility.

  3. Obtain a Transmittal Form and Number

    A unique Transmittal Number is needed for each application you submit to MassDEP.

  4. Look up your Application Fee

    See page 5 in the fee schedule below.

  5. Mail your Application and Fee Payment

    Submit your application fee payment and a copy of your transmittal form to:

    Submit a copy of the application package and your original transmittal form to:

    Wastewater Permitting Program
    One Winter Street, 5th floor 
    Boston, MA 02108

    Submit a copy of the application package to the Wastewater Permitting Program in the appropriate MassDEP Regional Office (see listing below).
