Essex Diversion Programs

First time, non-violent offenders under 21 are offered services in lieu of prosecution. Non-violent drug-addicted offenders of any age are offered treatment on demand in lieu of prosecution.

District Attorney Paul F. Tucker offers Juvenile, Youthful, and Drug Diversion Programs in all eight District Courts in Essex County. First-time, non-violent Juvenile and Youthful Offenders are offered appropriate counseling and education services, community service and restitution instead of going to court. Drug-addicted offenders of any age are offered drug treatment on demand and are screened by a Clinical Case manager at the court house. Successful completion of the program results in dismissal of the criminal complaint.
