Details
This new online version is interactive – searchable with a variety of filtering options to provide specific views needed by the user. It provides graphical summaries of key portfolio features, along with a new mapping function that help users locate land and buildings of interest.
The online report has been prepared in accordance with the requirements of M.G.L Chapter 7C, Section 39. The information contained in the report is compiled and updated monthly and comes from two primary data sources: 1) Owned land and building data compiled under DCAMM’s Commonwealth Asset Management Information System (“CAMIS”), an enterprise-wide platform overseen by the DCAMM Office of Finance and Administration to track the Commonwealth’s land and building portfolio; 2) DCAMM's centralized leasing database which carries data for privately-owned, municipal, and other public properties leased to house state agencies.
The Real Property Report dashboard reflects updates provided to DCAMM by other agencies and/or compiled internally by the DCAMM CAMIS Team regarding the acquisition, disposition, or transfer of Commonwealth land and improvements, as well as private leases held by state agencies through DCAMM's Office of Leasing.
Included in this report are state-owned land parcels, buildings (major and minor), as well as vertical (e.g., water towers), horizontal (e.g., parking lots), and certain linear improvements such as trails and pathways at certain state parks.
Please note that for security and privacy purposes, this report limits some details for Department of Developmental Services (DDS), Department of Mental Health (DMH) and Department of Youth Services (DYS) properties as well as for buildings at military, correctional, sheriffs, state police, and other public safety properties.
DCAMM has worked to make this dashboard accessible for those using screen reader software. Detailed guidance can be found at Accessibility Information for Power BI Dashboards.

More About What's Included in the Online Real Property Report
Leases of Private Space for State Agencies
The online report includes a separate page dedicated to leases of privately-owned space procured through DCAMM to house operations of a wide variety of state agencies. This section of the report includes the name of the leasing agency, leased address, leased area (useable square feet), and key dates. The online report allows the user to filter by many of these attributes. The leases may include parking spots and other ancillary spaces provided by the landlord. Also included in our lease reporting are a limited number of third-party licenses.
Some state entities, including the University of Massachusetts, procure leases on their own authority, outside of DCAMM. Those leases are not included here. Some security sensitive leased locations (e.g., law enforcement), and leases of group homes operated by Executive Office of Health and Human Service agencies are not considered a public record and are also excluded from this online lease reporting.
Conservation, Agricultural Restrictions and Certain Easements
The online report also lists property with conservation restrictions and agricultural preservation restrictions plus certain easements. Legal ownership of these lands remains with a municipal or private party. The Commonwealth only owns restrictions on certain “development rights” tied to the property, not the property itself, but reflect the Commonwealth’s commitment to preserving open space.
County-owned Land Housing Sherrifs and Court Facilities
The report also includes county-owned land and buildings that are occupied by various Sheriff’s and Trial Court departments. These buildings and associated land are not included in any other parts of the online report.
Data on Authority-owned Property
For higher education campuses, the online RPR includes information available for land and buildings owned by Massachusetts State College Building Authority (MSBA), UMass Building Authority (UMBA), along with campus – specific Higher Education Assistance Corps. and foundations. However, each respective entity should be contacted directly for the definitive current inventory. The ownership status of land and buildings (state or higher education authorities) is included in online RPR tables – indicated under the “ownership” column of the new report.
Assets owned by other authorities and independent agencies are included in this report only if the Commonwealth uses or occupies those facilities. Assets owned by authorities such as MWRA, MBTA, and Massport and other independent agencies are not included in this report except in rare cases when assets are used or occupied by the Commonwealth. These entities should be contacted directly for information about their holdings.
Ongoing Data Quality Improvements
Data used in the Real Property Report is continuously reviewed with DCAMM’s client agencies for accuracy and completeness, making the monthly updates of the new report even more important.
