Learn about civil rights protections related to credit and financial services.

The Attorney General's Office enforces federal and state fair credit and lending laws to protect people from discrimination in accessing credit or financial services. This includes enforcement of the Fair Housing Act, which prohibits discrimination in the selling or renting of a home or apartment and in the purchasing of loans or other financial services related to housing.

The office also enforces the Massachusetts Antidiscrimination Law, and the Massachusetts Consumer Protection Act, which prohibit discrimination in credit or financial services.

Victims of discrimination in accessing credit or financial services can file a civil rights complaint with the Attorney General’s Office.
