Accountable Care Organization (ACO) health plans
The ACO health plans are groups of doctors, hospitals and other health care providers who come together to give coordinated, high-quality care to MassHealth members. This way, MassHealth members get the right care at the right time. MassHealth has worked with the ACOs to make sure they provide high-quality care by
- Making sure your PCPs and other health care providers are working as a team
- Providing extra support to the ACOs so they can spend more time focusing on your needs
- Making sure ACOs put your needs first by rewarding ACOs that give you better care
Your covered services, like your regular health screenings and immunizations, do not change. Choose a health plan and PCP and get your checkups and more, depending on the MassHealth coverage type you are eligible for.
Under the ACO programs, you can choose from two health plan options:
- Accountable Care Partnership Plans
- Primary Care Accountable Care Organization Plans
The ACO health plans
- coordinate your care
- invest in supporting and increasing links to community groups to support you, their member, if you have complex behavioral health needs or need long-term services and supports
In ACOs, you and your primary care provider
- make decisions together on your care
- work together to improve your health outcomes and enhance your experience of your health care
