For Advancing Health Equity in MA, success is going to be measured in lives saved. In more specific terms, success will mean a reduction in Premature Mortality Rates (PMRs). PMRs measure the number of lives lost at an age below the state's average life expectancy -- and how much lower a community's average life expectancy is.
PMRs were a pivotal metric in the selection of the priority communities. Because, at the end of the day, this work is all about saving lives. We want mothers, children, friends, neighbors, and loved ones to be safe and healthy in every zip code in Massachusetts.
