RE: Election of the “Second Elected Board Member” to the Fitchburg
Retirement Board, three-year term to expire October 31, 2028, under the
provisions of Chapter 32, Section 20 of the Massachusetts General Laws, as
most recently amended.
ELECTION RULES AND REGULATIONS
(As outlined under Public Employee Retirement Administration – Regulation Chapter #840 CMR 7:00 – Standard Rules for Elections)
Any member of the Retirement System (active or retired) may qualify as a candidate by filing with the City Clerk nomination papers containing the signatures and addresses of at least twenty (20) members of the system. Nomination papers are available and may be picked up anytime in the City Clerk’s Office on the First Floor of the Municipal Offices.
Nomination papers must be filed no later than 3:30 P.M., THURSDAY, August 28, 2025, in the City Clerk’s Office, City Hall, 718 Main Street, Fitchburg, MA 01420.
If there is more than one candidate nominated for this position, an official election will be held on WEDNESDAY, October 22, 2025.
In the event an election is required, it will be conducted ENTIRELY BY MAIL, and a packet containing further instructions will be provided to each member.
Board members receive a $3,000.00 annual stipend.
