Notice of Election
November 17, 2025
TO: Active members, inactive members and retirees of the Newburyport Retirement System
Election Date: Tuesday, February 17, 2026
Purpose
To elect the fourth member to the Newburyport Retirement Board in accordance with the provisions of M.G.L. Chapter 32, 840 CMR 7.00. A copy of the election regulations is available in the Retirement Office.
Term of Office
February 21, 2026 to February 20, 2029
Candidates
Active members in service and retirees of the Newburyport Retirement System. Each Board member receives a yearly stipend of $4,500.
Nomination Papers
Any active member or retiree of the Newburyport Retirement System may qualify as a candidate by filing with the Newburyport Retirement Board nomination papers containing the printed names, signatures and addresses of at least twenty (20) active members or retirees of the Newburyport Retirement System.
Nomination Papers may be obtained beginning November 17, 2025 at:

The last day to submit nomination papers is January 5, 2026 by 12:00pm.
Ballots
The election will be held by mail via US Postal Service. If only one nominee is certified as eligible, that nominee will be declared the winner. If more than one candidate is nominated successfully, mail-in ballots will be mailed on Monday, January 12, 2026 to all those eligible to vote. Due date for the return of completed ballots will be 12:00pm on Tuesday, February 17, 2026. The due date will be included in the ballot instructions.
Election Results
Results of the election will be posted on Retirement’s webpage, posting notice to the member units and mailing to retirees.
