As of November 2025, Stage 2A construction has begun.

Construction look-ahead December 6 - December 20, 2025

What is happening?

The contractor is continuing with roadway and bridge construction activities and bridge demolition operations.

Travel Impacts

Over the next two weeks, drivers should expect lane closures on the highway, bridges, and on/ off ramps; rolling roadblocks; and intermittent road closures within the workzones listed below.

Scheduled Work

I-90 over I-95 and the Charles River

Work within the project area around the bridge carrying I-90 over I-95 and the Charles River will entail:

  • Placement of concrete pier columns and pier caps
  • Demolition of existing eastbound bridge structure (Nighttime shifts)
  • Installing Permanent Foundation Piles (Pile Driving – Daytime and Evenings)
  • Approach Roadway Reconstruction and Drainage Installation
  • Installing temporary barrier on I-90 WB

Ramp G Bridges

Work within the project area around the ramp bridges carrying I-95 north and south to I-90 eastbound will entail:

  • Installing Drainage Structures
  • Construction of widened ramp embankments
  • Construction of retaining walls
  • Construction of Bridge Substructure Elements
  • Construction of Bridge Superstructure Elements
  • Installation of structural steel
  • Ramp K Permanent Alignment construction
  • Construction of Temporary Ramp G1 roadway

Work Hours

  • Daytime Hours: Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. (Saturday 6 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. – as required)
  • Nighttime hours: Sunday through Friday from 8:30 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. as required

Travel Tips

Drivers should pay attention to all signage and move carefully through the work zone. Police details, lane markings, temporary barriers, traffic cones, signage, and other tools will be used to control traffic and maintain safe work zones.
