Benefit Summary
Benefit Summary
Welcome to the TransitMatch Benefit, designed to provide eligible Commonwealth employees with convenient access to transit savings. This benefit offers eligible employees a 50% reimbursement of up to $150 per month on qualified transit expenses, allowing employees to save on commuting expenses and contribute to a greener, more sustainable environment.
How the TransitMatch Benefit Works
To start using the transit benefit, employees must enroll through the Voya enrollment form. This form allows employees to specify the monthly amount they wish to contribute from their paycheck to fund their Voya debit card. If submitted by the monthly payroll calendar deadline, this amount will be deducted from the employee’s paycheck and available through the Voya debit card. The card can then be used to purchase transit tickets or passes either online or in person. If eligible for the TransitMatch benefit, employees will receive a 50% reimbursement (up to a $150 monthly reimbursement) in the same paycheck.
Examples of Funding Scenarios:
- An employee who purchases individual train tickets and spends $60 a month would enter this amount in the enrollment form. The employee would contribute $60 and receive a $30 reimbursement.
- An employee who uses the T subway system to commute to and from work would enter $90 (the current cost of the T monthly LinkPass) in the enrollment form. The employee would contribute $90 and receive a $45 reimbursement.
- An employee who typically purchases $250 worth of commuter rail tickets would enter this amount in the enrollment form. The employee would contribute $250 and receive a $125 reimbursement.
- An employee who purchases a monthly Commuter Rail Zone 5 pass (currently $311 as of fall 2024) would enter this amount in the enrollment form. The employee would contribute $311 and receive a $150 reimbursement (the maximum monthly amount).
