The Commission recognizes the need for women to gain both an equal share and become equal participants in the areas of economics, health-care, civil rights, education and business development. Our Legislative and Public Policy Committee endorses and tracks legislation to achieve these goals. The Commission also meets with legislators and submits written and verbal testimony in support of priority legislation at state legislative hearings.
Each legislative session (every two years beginning on odd numbered years, e.g. 2017, in Massachusetts), we select a number of priority bills to advocate for on their journey through the State House. These bills speak to our mission and purpose, while addressing what we've discovered are some of Commonwealth women's greatest challenges at our four annual regional public hearings.
