Boston — State Auditor Suzanne M. Bump appointed Dr. Kimberly Truong of Woburn to serve on the Self-Determination Advisory Board. Truong was sworn in by Auditor Bump on January 30, 2018 at the State House.
Truong is the Director of Inclusion Programs at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and an adjunct lecturer on education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Prior to that, she was the administrative fellow for equity, diversity, and inclusion at Harvard College. Dr. Truong conducts research on access and equity issues in higher education, university student experiences, and higher education policy. She is nationally recognized for research on the experiences of doctoral students of color with racism and racial trauma.
She holds a Ph.D in higher education from the University of Pennsylvania, a master’s degree in education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and bachelor’s degree in fine arts and politics from Brandeis University. Truong is also a commissioner of the state’s Asian American Commission.
Truong will serve on the board for a term of three years, after which she is eligible for reappointment.
The Self-Determination Advisory Board was created to advise the Department of Developmental Services on efforts to implement, publicize, evaluate, improve and develop information regarding self-determination.
