Boston — New Massachusetts State Auditor Suzanne M. Bump has named Pamela Lomax, a former manager with the Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development, as Deputy Auditor for Administration and Finance.

experience in the public sector—state government, higher education and community-based organizations where she oversaw multi-million-dollar budgets and implemented performance-based management systems for staff. As the Economic Recovery Project Coordinator for the Executive Office of Labor, Lomax oversaw reporting and compliance for programs receiving Recovery Act funding. Previously, she was Assistant Vice President of Advancement at Suffolk University.

As Deputy Auditor, Lomax will manage the administrative and financial operations divisions of the Office of the State Auditor, including the budget, planning and business; information technology; and human resources divisions.

Bump said, “Pamela Lomax is an outstanding addition to my senior staff who is passionate for public service and committed to my mission of making government work better.”

Bump also announced today that she is continuing the search for a Deputy Auditor for Audit Operations. The Deputy will play a key role on Auditor Bumps management team, overseeing and managing all aspects of the audit operations, with an emphasis on expanding the scope of performance audits to evaluate the success or failure of government operations.

Bump explained that she is looking for an outstanding Certified Public Accountant with government auditing and leadership experience, and is working with local and national associations of auditing professionals, including the National State Auditors Association to help in the recruitment of candidates for the position.

“I want to strengthen the Office’s audit capabilities and make greater use of performance audits to help make state government better,” said Auditor Bump. “I am seeking a candidate committed to implementing the idea that enhanced performance can help ensure that every tax dollar brought into state coffers goes where it is supposed to go and does what it is supposed to do.”
