Revenue Commissioner Henry Dormitzer today announced that preliminary revenue collections for December 2007 total $1.842 billion, up $58 million or 3.2 percent from last December. Total tax collections were $22 million below the December monthly benchmark.

FY08 year-to-date tax collections total $9.127 billion, up $365 million or 4.2 percent ahead of the same period a year ago, and are $22 million above the FY08 year-to-date benchmark.

"Weakness in corporate/business and sales tax collections were the main reason for the below benchmark December performance," said Revenue Commissioner Henry Dormitzer.

December income tax collections totaled $889 million, up $52 million or 6.2 percent and $11 million above the monthly benchmark. Estimated payments, a subset of income tax collections, totaled $132 million, up $9 million from the same period last year but $7 million below the monthly benchmark. Sales tax collections totaled $326 million, up $3 million or 0.9 percent but $9 million below the monthly benchmark. Corporate/business taxes totaled $346 million, down $2 million from the same period last year and $10 million below the monthly benchmark.
