Media Contact for Dorchester Municipal Court gifts court users with clothing and books
Coria Holland, Communications Director
Boston — The Dorchester Municipal Court Probation Department set up a holiday table stocked with warm clothing—sweaters, shirts, pants, gloves, hats, and more—as well as books which they distributed to people coming into the court today.
“This is our first time doing this. However, we plan to continue it in the years to come,” said Dorchester Chief Probation Officer Brad McNichols.
“The idea to set up a holiday table grew organically when we realized we had some clothing stored up for people if they reported to the department in need. The clothing was never really being utilized. So we decided to set up a Holiday table, and everyone in the department added to what we already had,” said McNichols.
He credits Dorchester Probation Officers Kristin Nee and Josefina Perez for their help in organizing the items and setting the table up. “They really went above and beyond in this effort,” McNichols said. He also thanked Presiding Justice James Coffey for his support of “this community-focused effort.
McNichols added, “It is the season of giving and we as Probation employees decided to establish a clothing and book drive for probationers who are in need. The Dorchester Court is a part of the community and in this spirit, we think it is important to give back."
