As the Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development celebrates #MAEarthWeek, we’re pleased to highlight free training programs that lead jobseekers to environmentally friendly careers.

Heating and Air Conditioning Mechanics and Installers

Heating and Air Conditioning Mechanics and Installers repair or install heating, central air conditioning, HVAC, or refrigeration systems, including oil burners, hot-air furnaces, and heating stoves.

According to occupational projections, the number of Heating and Air Conditioning Mechanics and Installers employed in Massachusetts is projected to grow by 18.6% between 2020 - 2030. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports Heating and Air Conditioning Mechanics and Installers earned an average annual wage of $65,460 in 2021.

 HVAC training programs: 

Bus and Truck Mechanics and Diesel Engine Specialists

Bus and Truck Mechanics and Diesel Engine Specialists diagnose, adjust, repair, or overhaul buses and trucks, or maintain and repair any type of diesel engine.

According to occupational projections, the number of Bus and Truck Mechanics and Diesel Engine Specialists employed in Massachusetts is projected to grow by 19% from 2020 to 2030. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports Bus and Truck Mechanics and Diesel Engine Specialists earned an average annual wage of $62,500 in 2021.

Diesel Technology training programs: 

Plumbers, Pipefitters, and Steamfitters

Plumbers, Pipefitters, and Steamfitters assemble, install, alter, and repair pipelines or pipe systems that carry water, steam, air, or other liquids or gases.

According to occupational projections, the number of Plumbers, Pipefitters, and Steamfitters employed in Massachusetts is projected to grow by 25.15% from 2020 to 2030. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports Plumbers, Pipefitters, and Steamfitters earned an average annual wage of $84,090 in 2021.
