Cape and Islands — Cape & Islands District Attorney Michael O’Keefe announced today that on September 25, 2019, Gina Giovangelo (d.o.b. 10/6/1991) of Webster, MA, plead guilty in the Barnstable Superior court to indicments for Operating a Motor Vehicle after License Suspended for Motor Vehicle Homicide and Witness Intimidation.
The Honorable Judge Robert C. Rufo sentenced Giovangelo to 2 years to 2 years and one day in the state prison on the indictment for Witness Intimidation and 2 years in the house of correction, to run concurrent, on the indictment for Operating a Motor Vehicle after License Suspended for Motor Vehicle Homicide.
The charges stem from an incident that occurred in Yarmouth, on August 3, 2018, where a motor vehicle stop was conducted on a vehicle driven by Giovangelo. She provided false identifying information to the officer, who released her with a warning. Her true identity was later discerned, when a relative reported that Giovangelo had provided her name when she was pulled over. The case was investigated by the Yarmouth Police Department and prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Jessica M. Croker.
