Blog Post  How to Use OSD’s Buyer Training Tracks

One of the most common questions at the end of an OSD training session is, “Where do I go from here?” Whether a seasoned buyer in need of a refresher or someone just starting to explore Statewide Contract use, the Operational Services Division (OSD) offers a wide catalog of free courses for every skill level.

The OSD Training team recently looked at their course offerings, identifying the key competencies and skills needed for buyers from executive agencies, non-executive agencies, municipalities and local governments, and non-profit organizations. Although these groups are all public purchasers, they have distinct needs that may not be met across all training courses. For example, the COMMBUYS Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) tool only is available to Executive Agency buyers, so other groups are not required to attend classes on this topic.

This exercise resulted in the creation of Buyer Training Tracks, which allow buyers to find the core classes and elective classes most appropriate for their buyer/ organization type, and their purchasing or procurement role. This summer, the OSD Training Team plans to continue this effort and refresh course content. In some cases, this may result in some course names changing when the
team posts the Summer Training Schedule. Please visit the Buyer Training Schedule and Buyer course descriptions for more
information.
