At the direction of Governor Deval L. Patrick, Revenue Commissioner Alan LeBovidge today announced that taxpayers filing Massachusetts individual tax returns will receive additional time to file their 2006 returns. The Massachusetts tax filing deadline has been extended again to midnight, Thursday, April 26, 2007.

The Department will follow the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) in allowing taxpayers that were directly impacted by the storm an additional seven days to fulfill their tax return filing obligations. Taxpayers are advised to follow the same procedures for their Massachusetts return as outlined by the IRS.

The Department will continue to keep taxpayers apprised of any developments. For the latest information, please visit DOR's website or the IRS website at www.irs.gov. Taxpayers can also contact the Department's Customer Service Bureau at (617) 887-MDOR or toll-free in Massachusetts at (800) 392-6089.
