Blog Post  Investing in Technology with Per Scholas Greater Boston

In 2023, Per Scholas Greater Boston was awarded $1 million through the Workforce Competitiveness Trust Fund to provide job training and job placement in the technology sector to 200 individuals. The Workforce Competitiveness Trust Fund develops training pipelines to meet the skill needs of employers in high demand occupations. The program is administered by Commonwealth Corporation on behalf of the Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development.

“Access to a Per Scholas education is truly life changing for our learners,” said H. Kay Howard, the Managing Director at Per Scholas Greater Boston, in an episode of Behind the WorkforceMA. “We never ask our learners for a penny in return, and we’re really able to provide that training completely tuition free because of our very generous supporters, including our new largest grant ever received at Per Scholas Greater Boston in partnership with Commonwealth Corporation through the Workforce Competitiveness Trust Fund.”

In the episode, Justin Guerrero, a 2023 IT Support graduate shared how something that he could never imagine changed his life. Within four months, Justin graduated and passed is CompTIA A+ exams, and was offered a supervisory role by the end of the year.
