BostonEdward J. Dolan, Commissioner of the Massachusetts Probation Service (MPS), has been selected by the Massachusetts Office for Victim Assistance (MOVA), to receive the Access to Justice Award. The award is one of several annual awards presented by MOVA in recognition of individuals and agencies who have made contributions to the rights of crime victims and survivors. Dolan will receive this award at the agency's 2018 Victim Rights Month Awards Ceremony on Monday, April 9, at the Massachusetts State House.

Dolan is being acknowledged for his “notable contributions to advancing victim rights and services as well as making a difference in the lives of victims and survivors in Massachusetts,” according to Liam T. Lowney, MOVA’s executive director.

During Dolan’s tenure as Commissioner, the Massachusetts Probation Service has created the MPS Victim Services Unit comprised of five Victim Services Coordinators managed by VSU Statewide Director Corinn Nelson.  This MOVA-supported unit has delivered critical services and support to more than 4,000 victims and survivors annually, according to Dolan.

"I couldn't be more honored. I am accepting the 2018 MOVA Access to Justice Award for the entire Massachusetts Probation Service (MPS). The Award is an acknowledgement of the men and women of MPS who have embraced and championed this important work. And, without the leadership and direct support of MOVA, the Trial Court and the Probation Service would not be where we are today, with a dedicated Victim Services Unit providing critical support and services to thousands of crime victims and survivors annually," Dolan said.
