attention masshealth members, act now, stay covered.

The Group Insurance Commission (GIC) is aware that in response to the federal government's decision to end certain temporary COVID-19-related Medicaid continuous coverage requirements, MassHealth is conducting a broad effort to determine who remains eligible for Medicaid coverage. As a result, any individuals who are eligible for GIC coverage and instead remained in MassHealth during this period may be at risk of losing that coverage.

Losing your MassHealth Coverage?

Please be aware that the loss of MassHealth coverage is a qualifying event, which entitles any GIC-eligible individuals impacted by this change to enroll in GIC benefits within 60 days of loss of that coverage. These individuals are allowed to enroll in benefits through the GIC outside of the regular Annual Enrollment period. Please note that proof of involuntary loss of coverage and effective date of termination will be required in order to qualify.

Enrolling in GIC Benefits

GIC-eligible individuals who may be impacted by this change can visit the GIC's website at mass.gov/gic or call GIC's Public Information Unit at (617) 727-2310 to learn about and enroll in GIC benefits.

The GIC recommends that individuals enroll in or update GIC benefits using the MyGICLink Member Benefits Portal. The GIC also offers the option to enroll in benefits using GIC Online Forms and GIC Print Forms. Learn more about MassHealth’s redetermination process.
