Press Release  Middlesex Juvenile Chief Is Honored For His Years of Helping Children and Their Families

Boston, MA — Middlesex Juvenile Chief Probation Officer Stephen Allsopp was recognized by the Adolescent Consultation Services (ACS), the Juvenile Court Clinic for all of Middlesex County, with the “Indispensable Friend” Award for his more than 30 years of service to court-involved children and their families. The award was presented to Allsopp at ACS’ Annual Fall Event at the Union Club in Boston on Thursday, October 27^th.

Chief Allsopp and Probation Commissioner Edward J. Dolan were both honored at ACS’s Annual Fall Event where the Massachusetts Probation Service (MPS) and Juvenile Probation were highlighted. Dolan received the “Outstanding Leadership” Award. Allsopp manages the day to day operations of the Middlesex Juvenile Probation Department offices in Cambridge, Framingham, and Lowell.

“We selected Chief Allsopp as an honoree for his career-defining, dedicated service to court-involved children and families in Middlesex County,” said Dr. Leah Kelly, ACS executive director. “His extraordinary leadership and dedication to the most vulnerable children in our community has enabled him and those who work with him to change thousands of lives for the better.”

Allsopp said of his award, “I am grateful for the recognition of my years of service knowing that I work everyday with an amazing staff who are equally deserving. I am even more grateful for the opportunity to serve in the area of Juvenile Probation. I consider it a privilege to walk into my office knowing I am able to help children and families get the help that they need to get them back on the right track in life.”

Commissioner Dolan described Allsopp as a dedicated employee who is committed to helping children and their families during a crucial time in their lives.

“Chief Allsopp is a champion of children involved with the Juvenile Court system in Middlesex County. He has had a huge and positive impact on court-involved children and their families for more than three decades. Because of his dedication to children and hard work, generations of children have been given the resources and guidance to turn their lives around,” said Commissioner Dolan.

Established in 1973, ACS serves 54 cities and towns in Middlesex County. Its mission is to alleviate barriers to care for court-involved youth and families. ACS provides the Juvenile Court Clinic services for the Middlesex Juvenile Court to address the mental health and behavioral health needs of court-involved children. ACS evaluates, counsels, advocates for at-risk youth and their families, connecting them with the resources they need to overcome obstacles due to trauma, family difficulties, and mental health issues.

The Massachusetts Probation Service’s mission is to increase community safety, reduce recidivism, contribute to the fair and equitable administration of justice, support victims and survivors, and assist individuals and families in achieving long term positive change.
