January 16, 2019

Greetings,

I am writing to introduce myself as the new Director for the Massachusetts Division of Standards. I come to the position with 20 years of experience with weights and measures as the former Sealer of Weights and Measures for the City of Cambridge, and a cumulative 34 years of local government experience. In the past, I also had the pleasure of serving as a Chairman for the National Conference on Weights & Measures from 2017-2018.

As you are aware, the mission of the Division of Standards is to enforce standard accuracy requirements and ensure a level playing field for all consumers. In the coming year, I plan to take steps to modernize the Division and institute technology upgrades which will streamline our licensing processes and provide the public with real-time license and inspection information.

I am very excited to be assuming this new and challenging role as Director, and I am looking forward to working with you and meeting many of you personally over the next several months.

Please feel free to reach out to me at (617) 727-3480 or via email at James.Cassidy@mass.gov to introduce yourself or share any questions or concerns. I welcome your input and will make every effort to address them.

Thank you for your attention.

Sincerely,

James P. Cassidy, Jr.

Director of Standards
