Media Contact for Roxbury Probation Employees Were Sworn In At Courthouse Ceremony

Boston, MA — Seven Probation employees at the Roxbury Division of Boston Municipal Court (BMC) were sworn in before an audience of family, friends, and colleagues during the first Swearing-In Ceremony for Probation Officers at the Roxbury Court in more than a decade. The ceremony took place Thursday, October 20th, at the courthouse.
First Justice David Weingarten administered the oath at the ceremony where the new employees received their official Probation badges. Among the Probation employees sworn in were new Chief Probation Officer Kevin O’Neill, Assistant Chief Probation Officer Christopher Gillis, and Probation Officers Ana Dias, Tracy Callanan, Jessica Pina, Joe Robles, and Shawnta Ward.
"We are very pleased to have an infusion of new leadership in the probation department at the Roxbury Division. Chief O'Neill and Assistant Chief Gillis bring exceptional skills and a wealth of experience to their positions. We are also very excited to have five new probation officers who bring excellent training and a great deal of enthusiasm to their positions. The people served by the probation department are in good hands," said Judge Weingarten.
Probation Commissioner Edward Dolan said, “These newly-appointed Probation employees are an important part of our agency. They bring to their positions the excitement, creativity, and expertise to work with men and women involved with the court system at a crucial time in their lives.”
There are eight divisions of the Boston Municipal Courts which include Brighton, Central, Charlestown, Dorchester, East Boston, Roxbury, South Boston, and West Roxbury. District. BMC Probation Officers supervise criminal cases.
