This is the first of what each hopes to be periodic meetings between the state and federal Probation executives and their leadership teams. It comes just as National Pretrial, Probation, and Parole Supervision Week, an annual observance launched by the American Probation and Parole Association (APPA),  kicks off this week, July 19-23. The theme this year is "Restoring trust, Creating hope."

"We met to explore ways we can support each other and better communicate and coordinate our efforts going forward. We share a lot in terms of evidence-based practice and in some instances, cases. These meetings with our respective leadership staff will only promote this work in Massachusetts," said Commissioner Dolan. "This meeting is particularly timely given the week-long celebration of Probation work here in the home of Probation in the USA."

The APPA will be holding its national convention, the 46th Annual Training Institute, at the Sheraton Boston, August 21-25, 2021. Several Massachusetts Probation Service employees will also be among the national panelists and presenters. More than 3,000 Probation, Parole, and Pretrial employees from across the nation and Canada will attend both virtually and in-person.
