FRAMINGHAMThe Healey-Driscoll Administration today announced online resources for individuals and communities affected by this month’s excessive rainfall and flooding across western and central Massachusetts. Governor Maura Healey. Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll and members of the administration recently toured several areas of western and central Massachusetts that sustained significant damage and continue to closely assess the scale of the ongoing impacts. As part of the administration’s commitment to supporting recovery efforts, the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) developed an online resource to provide affected communities with a centralized location to conveniently access information about available services and assistance.

The recovery resources provide helpful guidance for individuals and businesses seeking emergency aid, debris removal and home cleanup assistance, mental health support, educational resources and financial assistance. To assist municipalities with the recovery process, the resource guide provides contact information for state agencies that will assist with emergency management, dam safety, transportation matters, damage assessments, and other vital needs. The site also offers information on volunteer cleanup services to assist with fallen trees and mold mitigation, as well as low-interest loans for qualified homeowners and financial counseling.

“The severe weather events we have seen this month have been devastating to some of our towns, businesses, and families – especially in rural areas where hardworking farmers have lost acres of crops due to flooding,” said Governor Healey. “Our administration is deeply concerned for everyone affected by the floods and want to be sure they can access the help they need during this time.”

“MEMA’s Local Coordinators have been in regular communication with towns and local emergency management directors since the flooding began last week and we will continue to support them as they navigate the recovery process,” said MEMA Acting Director Dawn Brantley. “This website will be an excellent tool for residents and communities as we continue to add available resources and deliver immediate relief.”

To further assist residents without Internet access, MEMA will provide print-ready handouts of this information for display at community centers, senior centers, and other locations throughout hard-hit towns.
