Press Release  The Massachusetts Probation Service Hires Three New Victim Services Coordinators

Massachusetts — The Massachusetts Probation Service’s Victim Services Unit has expanded with the addition of three newly hired Victim Services Coordinators. All three are former Victim Witness Advocates for District Attorney’s offices.

Victims Services Coordinators are responsible for addressing the needs of all victims and survivors of crime. Victim Services Coordinators provide direct services to victims and survivors of crime including court accompaniment, notification, crisis intervention, safety planning, advocacy and referrals to local service providers. The Victim Services Coordinators will service all five court divisions: Boston Municipal Court (BMC), District, Juvenile, Probate & Family, and Superior courts.

“We are proud that the agency is now able to broaden its outreach efforts to victims and their families statewide,” said Probation Commissioner Edward J. Dolan.

The new employees—Laura Boback, Nicole Hamwey, and Lindsey Maxwell— are now part of a team that was established with the hiring a year ago of Victim Services Coordinator Corinn Nelson Boback, Hamwey, and Maxwell all started their jobs on Monday, November 7th.

Boback, who served as a Victim Witness Advocate for the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office, is now the Victim Services Coordinator based at Brockton District Court. She will work with victims in Regions One and Two:which include Attleboro, Barnstable, Brockton, Brookline, Dedham, Edgartown, Fall River, Falmouth, Hingham, Nantucket, New Bedford, New Bedford, Orleans, Plymouth, Quincy, Stoughton, Taunton, Wareham, and Wrentham. Boback is a Stonehill University graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Criminology.

Hamway’s office is at Somerville District Court where she will be responsible for helping victims and their families in Region Three: Cambridge, Chelsea, Gloucester, Haverhill, Ipswich, Lynn, Malden, Newburyport, Peabody, Salem, and Somerville.  She will also cover the Boston Municipal Courts. Before joining MPS, she was a Victim Witness Advocate for the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office. Hamway earned a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and Psychology from Westfield State University.

Maxwell is the Victim Services Coordinator for Region Six— which covers Chicopee, East Hampshire, Greenfield, Holyoke, Northampton, Northern Berkshire, Orange, Palmer, Pittsfield, Southern Berkshire, Springfield and Westfield. She will work out of Springfield District Court. Maxwell served as a Victim Witness Advocate for the Hampden District Attorney’s Office. Maxwell is a graduate of Westfield State University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice.
