Cape and IslandsRE: Commonwealth v. Tyson Colton

District Attorney Michael O’Keefe announced today that a Barnstable Superior Court Jury found Tyson M. Colton (DOB: 08/08/1977, of Yarmouth, MA) guilty of Burning a Motor Vehicle, Intimidation of a Witness, and Criminal Harassment. The jury deliberated for approximately three hours after a five day trial before returning their verdict.

The Honorable Judge Robert C. Rufo sentenced Colton to 4 to 5 years committed at MCI-Cedar Junction on the Intimidation of a Witness charge. Colton was sentenced to concurrent time on the Burning a Motor Vehicle charge, and 3 years of probation on the Criminal Harassment charge. Colton was sentenced to concurrent time and concurrent probation on other related charges.

The charges stem from a series of domestic violence incidents which occurred between June and July 2018 in the towns of Brewster and Barnstable, which culminated in Colton setting fire to his ex-girlfriend’s motor vehicle at her residence during the night of July 15, 2018.

The case was investigated by the Brewster Police Department.
