MassWildlife operates five fish hatcheries in Massachusetts. Over 500,000 Brook, Brown, Rainbow, and Tiger Trout are stocked into Massachusetts waterways during spring and fall stocking each year. You can visit the hatchery to see trout in different stages of growth. We do not have staff to offer tours, so be advised that your visit will be self-guided.
Visitors to the Department of Fish and Game's Boston office can purchase hunting, fishing, and trapping licenses. The Boston office is also home to the Division of Ecological Restoration, the Office of Fishing and Boating Access, the Division of Fisheries and Wildlife, and the Division of Marine Fisheries.
MassWildlife District offices are your best source for local information on wildlife topics, fish stocking and pheasant stocking locations, as well as state wildlife lands. You can also purchase a fishing or hunting license, report a hunting harvest, or get MassWildlife publications at a District office.
